We just can't help ourselves. This time it was at Peter White's place (thanks Peter) on 4 June 2000, and we even dealt with some affairs of state.

lugnet.loc.au is a good place to find us in cyberspace. These comments on the day below were shamelessly liberated from there:

Part 2: Nobody can stop the music

Part 4: Take the hope from Man

The courtyard at Neuschwanstud

Just glorious isn't it.

An AAT and 2 ASTs (Armoured Scout Tanks) patrolled Ahab's rear. Now there's a job everyone clamours for ;-)

Ahab himself was a bit busy sallying forth, as he is wont to do....

I've just got back from the third Sydney get together and wheee... There were three more people than last time and at this rate we should have a dozen by the next one!

We had a train layout that went around the house (Pete W's) and a huge battle in the other room between Pete C and Dave Low on one side and Richard and myself on the other, much carnage!

Heaps good fun and we'll do it again I'm sure. There are pictures coming as soon as Pete C coaxes his new digital camera into giving them up. But for now, I've got to get building for the next one.

Thanks to all the attendees and consumers of the chilli. The highlight for me was probably Kev Hall's magnificent castle (in the ABS), A structure I hope will live for a little while longer, though I'm sure it's reconfigured parts will turn up in something equally magnificent. Most honourable mentions must go to pete.c's fortifications and roving attack force which kept all safely at bay. Also David Drew's fleet of Technic cars, has aroused an interest in such sets, that a trip to ebay may well be on the agenda. Almost forgot Richard.P's space pirate fleet which I'm sure 100% application given from 100% of the force, might have seen a different result on the day (maybe a suicidal dive from the flagship onto PC's fortress may have done the trick).

Then there was the dynamic train duo, Eli and Santosh who circled the house in style, and ignited an interest/obsession in my son of Lego trains that may siphon funds away from other themes in the long term.

Lest I forget James and Dave.L's contribution to the battle, with smaller but nonetheless brave forces, who tried some inventive moves to stifle their bigger opponents.

So Studfest IV here we come, the more the merrier, so diary the first weekend in August, all those within traveling distance and see you there.

Indead these events just get better and better (if that is at all possible). Fantastic to see the new faces and creations (and to finally touch those supercars!!!).

Kevin's castle was indeed stupendous. Like... wow!

I think the highlight would have to be James Howse's creative alternate deployment tactic for the Saucy Sal (both on the way up and on the way down). I don't think we could have arranged it better if we'd have dismantled her into her component parts and scattered them manually. Well done James!!

James' Flash Steamer

Very flashy indeed

David Low's ABBA turned up and did a number on the crossbow, accompanied by Benny on the speargun

Peter Callaway's SHAG forces, of course, were entirely mechanised - so look out!

    Profuse agreement and applause.

Much thanks to Peter White (and lovely wife and extraordinarily well behaved son) for hosting the affair - good space, good food, good drink, good all - good stuff!

I too was stunned by Kevin's glorious Neuschwanstein castle. I got to see supercars, destroyer droids, coko bricks(?), belville, megabloks, and most worthy trains up close, as well as a chance to put Ahab's horde to the test. They went quite well, mostly. I am sure once Ahab gets a new horde he'll do much better next time.

Thanks to James for organising the Sea Lion down from the mountains, and again to PeterW for the auspicious trades.

Like PeterC, my highlight was the glorious death plunge of the Saucy Sal. Lord knows I helped design the strategy and make up the orders, but James execution of the manoeuvre, including the inversion at the top of the full burn climb, and the stunning (accidental) hundred metre (seven foot) freefall onto the opposing forces left everyone breathless (including James, I think :-) Just glorious! Songs will be sung - even if I have to write them and sing them myself :-)

I look forward to Studfest IV already.

PeterC's armoured personnel carrier disgorged its deadly cargo

Even David Low's Vill-Idge people sortied mechanised elements, including the self mobile VSG
