I N D U S T R I A L   E A R T H

On the 24th of March, 2035, the major nations of the world united to embrace the Industrial system of government; a single superpower which would have control of the whole Terran civilisation. Now, over 200 years later, this once mighty empire is crumbling from existence, losing many of its battalions to militia groups and freedom fighters.
The Industrial system was very simple; the ruling authority was like a massive corporation which had control of everything. It could buy and sell companies, producers and territories and have them run like a franchise. All decisions were made by a High Emperor who heads a board of 12 Division Leaders, each one in charge of a different area of the Industrial command. When first implemented, Commander Jonathan Caladran was elected High Emperor and handled the system quite well.

The new rulers named themselves Industrial Earth and immediately began the regulation of Terran industrial and mining activity. Although the new governing system was readily accepted, there were always a number of critics who were ready to return to the old system at the slightest mistake made by the Industrialists.

Throughout the 22nd century Industrial Earth bought and started a wide range of subdivisions and companies and introduced the remote mining system after the banning of all mining activity on Earth. It was late in this century when certain investigators began finding flaws and corruption in the Industrial system. The fourth High Emporer had just been elected and, in an attempt to gain more support, began making many positive changes to society. After the disappearance of many government investigators, people learnt to keep quiet about the obvious corruption shared by those ruling the Terran civilisation.

When pirate fleets had become a large menace at the turn of the century, attention turned towards Industrial Earth's handling of the situation. Over the following years, the Galactic Starway was created to control the pirate problem, once again gaining them popularity. This "period of grace" was short lived; in 2036 the first of the breakaway battalions departed, forming the Blue Angels. In the years following, two more battallions left, reducing the Industrial army to 80 percent of its former strength.

It wasn't long after this that the Industrial system began to crumble, with many individual battle squads joining the two prominent militia groups spawned from Industrial Battalions. Many outposts were being taken, including one of the mobile stations forming the Galactic Starway. The crumbling of Industrial Earth also destroyed the remote mining industry and most mining luggers now serve as light carriers for the small militia and pirate fleets. Industrial Earth still mines its own resources but all others must get their supplies from small, private asteroid mining outposts.
